Does a brand-new car need paint correction before ceramic coating?
A brand-new vehicle should be washed, decontaminated and inspected under proper lighting before ceramic coating. If the paint has light swirls, dealer-installed marring, water spots, transport marks or haze, polishing should correct those defects before the coating locks in the finish.
Why new cars can already have paint defects
Vehicles are handled many times before delivery. Transportation, dealership washing, lot storage, protective-film removal and pre-delivery preparation can leave light defects even when the vehicle has only a few miles. Dark colors often make those issues easier to see.
Does every new car need a two-step correction?
No. Heavy correction on paint that does not need it wastes time and removes more clear coat than necessary. The correction level should match the actual condition of the paint. A clean new vehicle may only need a light finishing polish, while another new vehicle may need more work to reach the desired result.
Why polish before coating?
Ceramic coating is transparent. It improves gloss and protects the finish underneath, but it does not hide swirls or sanding marks. Correcting visible defects first gives the coating a cleaner, more uniform surface and preserves the finish you actually want to see for years.
